recipe card shower . . . by mail
August 22, 2011 Several months ago, Allie contacted me to discuss designs for a recipe card shower that she and her mom wanted to host "by mail" for a dear family friend's upcoming wedding. See, since Allie, her mom, Susan, and the bride all live in different states, it was going to be nearly impossible to plan a traditional bridal shower. Wanting to still do something special for the bride and groom, Allie and her mom came up with the brilliant idea of sending out recipe cards to everyone invited to the wedding. Enclosed with the recipe card is an "invitation" explaining the gift and providing instructions for the recipe cards & return mailing. Once they received all the cards, Allie & Susan compiled all the recipes into one box and gave the gift to the bride & groom at the rehearsal dinner.

This was an incredibly fun and thoughtful project to design. Aside from all the great little details - the stripes, the custom monogram, the rolling pin illustration and baker's twine - the best part about this gift is that the newlyweds will be able to use and cherish the handwritten recipes for years to come. And since working on the project together, Allie and I have become great "blog friends". I always feel a little funny saying that, but she is such an incredibly lovely person and I know we would find many excuses to get together if we lived in the same state! I keep up with Allie via her blog and pinterest (I finally set up an account and love it). Thanks, Allie, and congrats, Kathryn & Gaines!

Allie just sent me this link, and I cannot thank you enough for all of your help and hard work in making this "shower" so special. Our recipe box is proudly displayed in our kitchen and my husband Gaines and I love trying new recipes from dear family and friends. Thank you for helping to make this special gift possible. :)
Thanks for all of your hard work, Megan!! My mom and I are so pleased with how it all turned out. So fun to see it featured on your blog. I have to agree that I am sure we would find many excuses to get together if we lived closer to one another! I will be sure to let you know if I am ever in the Lone Star State-- many thanks again! XO
CUTE idea and great design. I love your stuff. I used to design cards for people in Houston, but now that we're in Austria, must just do web stuff. :)
