southern living: made by southern hands
June 24, 2011 One thing I really love about what I do is that I can design from just about anywhere. As long as I have my laptop, or a pen & paper at the very least, I am good to go. This proved so true a few months ago while Greg and I were on a little beach getaway. I only had room to pack either my laptop or my "nice" camera, but not both. Ultimately I decided that I better take the computer since I had a few loose ends to wrap up on a large project . . . and thank goodness I did! A few days into our trip, I received an email from Southern Living asking me to create some designs for the July 2011 issue. With "stars & stripes" as my theme, I sat under an umbrella on the breathtaking beach . . . with my laptop! I got a few stares but didn't mind working one bit considering the views from my "office".
Long story short, the July 2011 Southern Living Magazine is now available and my Patriotic Star Note Cards are featured in the "Pride of Place: Made by Southern Hands" article!

I am excited, humbled and grateful to have my work featured in one of my favorite magazines and am especially proud to be included in the "Made by Southern Hands" column celebrating the 4th of July.
These notecards and the rest of my Stars & Stripes Collection are available in my new online shop.
And, even though I didn't pack my Nikon camera for our trip back in March, my trusty old point-and-shoot took some great photos of my oceanfront office.

Since it's a little too early in the day for a celebratory cocktail, I am about to enjoy a big ol' glass of iced tea like a true southern lady :) Enjoy the weekend!
