a royal invitation
April 15, 2011 One of Houston's finest recently received a very prestigious award from Her Majesty the Queen. To celebrate their father's investiture as a Member of the Order of the British Empire, the recipient's daughters organized a reception in London following the ceremony. Working with a very short timeline, they planned a wonderful evening to commemorate this extraordinary occasion and enlisted my help to design the invitations.
It is not every day that I am asked to create a design to celebrate a royal honor, and I enjoyed working on this regal, sophisticated invitation. To add a bit of dimension and texture to the invite, I (with the help of one of the daughters who happens to also be a dear friend) wrapped a delicate strand of metallic silver thread around each card. Combining the thread with soft 100% cotton paper created a memorable invitation fit for a King Member of the Order of the British Empire.

Occasions like this are the reason I chose the name toast & laurel. I am humbled to create designs for life's most cherished celebrations (toast) and honors (laurel).
