parties Despite the 85 degree weather here in Houston this weekend, fall has definitely arrived!
To celebrate the season, our good friends, Courtney & Mark, host an annual Fall Bash in October (this marks the 3rd year). The combination of great food (and drink!), spirited banter, and dozens of candles and lanterns makes for a truly merry evening. Not only is Courtney a dear friend, but she's also a favorite client! After designing the 2nd Annual Fall Bash invitations, I was delighted when she asked me to create a "layered look" for this year's invite. With a good deal of brainstorming and pouring over paper & fabric samples, we decided on a palette of tan, brown, black, & harvest yellow. I couldn't be happier with the final design and am thrilled to share this project with you!
I love burlap (you'll find a lot of in my own home during the holidays) and suggested using it throughout the invitations and decor. We first included a burlap accent on the invites . . .

Each year Courtney attaches a copy of the invitation to a page of the guestbook, and the partygoers fill the next few pages with fun notes & messages. What a great tradition! I created a simple burlap-backed sign to place by the guest book and love the way it tied in with the rest of the decor.

Courtney and I worked with Vanessa at Jacquelyn Reese to create simple, ruffled burlap tablecloths for the kitchen and dining room tables. Vanessa's work was flawless, and the tablecloths are absolutely beautiful. Looking in toward the kitchen from the back patio . . . gorgeous.
What a great way to celebrate the season! As always, we had a great time at the party and can't wait for next year's bash. Mark & Courtney - thanks for hosting such a wonderful event and letting me share a few photos. Happy Fall!
